What Is "The Marshmallow Award" ?

"The Marshmallow Award" comes from a work experience that I had in the mid 1970's when I worked for a Mr. Glynn Campbell or "Campbell".

Campbell was quite a character, he was a loyal Democrat for the times. By today's standards I think he would be labeled a staunch conservative, a Reagan "Yellow Dog" Democrat.

One of Campbell's deals was that when he found out that a  judge had handed out a ridiculously light sentence for a serious offense he would send a letter to the judge.  In the letter Campbell conveyed his objections to the sentence imposed and enclose several miniature marshmallows with detailed instructions on how to throw these marshmallows at the next offender since this would be a more effective punishment. Incidentally I would not recommend such an action today as this would be inviting every form of law enforcement unit in this country to your front door.  You could however, in the 1970's, get away with this type of objection.
